Want to see inside the wma11b? It’s probably the easiest linux device to open you’ll find, much easier than a Tivo.. ;-) Just work around the edge of the case from the bottom and it will just pop apart.

Inside WMA11b

Above is what you’ll first see. Very simple pxa250 motherboard with a 802.11b pcmcia card neatly mounted on the top. We’ll see how easy it is to upgrade it to a 802.54g later.. ;-p

This is the view with the pcmcia card removed. You’ll see the xscale processor under the pcmcia card mount. A davicom network 9000e fast ethernet controller on the left, The audio AC97 audio module is a sigmatel stac9750, it’s not visible in the photo but is just left of the Focus FS450 TV signal generator at the centre top. You’ll also see 2 8mb Dram modules on the right.

This picture is a close up of the blanks for a serial package. U2 is for a MAX241, J6 is a serial connection with ground, tx and rx, and JP1 is a JTAG connection.
